tokyo fish market.

every day, around 04:30 in the morning the tokyo fish market wakes up to life
boats coming in from the say after a night out or a few days out of fishing
and unload to the docks tons of fresh tuna,salmon,snails,shrimp... (you get the idea)
fish are laid out at huge hangars where the fun begins
every day, chefs from the best restaurants come to pick the bet fish for sushi and the auctions begin
like movies of wall street every body is shouting around and bidding for the best fish
after a price is set they are carried to electric carts (big big fish! i mean the average tuna is much bigger then you'd think, like one meter long and heavy)
and wheeled away to be clean and filleted and then served
all this happens ll around and as tokyo is a 13 million people city the whole place is whoozing around with fish carts and people shouting and fish guts and blood everywhere..
and of course... tons of tourists.
as it it well recommended to visit this place in all the guides a lot of german american and other find themselves waking up at 04:30 in the morning and taking the subway to the market to watch the auctions and then feed themselves on a very fresh (and highly expensive) sushi breakfast (the best sushi you ever had at 08:12 am)
only one rule... don't go on a sunday because it's closed

we decided not to be that crazy... we woke up at 05:00.

there was some contemplating about it.. after all it is 05:00
but we said "yeah!! fish market" and set the clock.
.
.
.

next morning ...05:00
beep beep
beep beep
beep beep
beep beep
beep bong!!!
"remind me again why are we up?"
"yeah!! fish market"
"oh right.. let's go to sleep and do it tomorrow"
"but...yeah!! fish market"
"but it's early!!!"
but ...yeah!! fish market"
"maybe it's Sunday and it's closed and we can go back to sleep???"
"nope.. Wednesday."
"oh... ok"

so we woke up got dressed and went out
don't believe all this spring cherry blossom shit you hear
tokyo mornings are cold!!!
very cold!!
this one was also raining...

"oh! it's raining and cold!! let's go back to bed"
"but...yeah!! fish market"
"ok"

so we walked to the station and waited for the first train...
coming out from the station we looked around to what direction to go to
(some guides when telling you about a place will tel you which subway station to go to but no one will say which exit to take and it's very important because the station exits can spared over a few blocks and if you exit the wrong one you'll NEVER find the place you were looking for)
"where is it? it's cold!!"
"i don't know"
"let's ask someone"
"ok"
"yeah!! fish market"

so we found this japaniese guy who was awake (which is not that easy.. japanise people with all their being Head working and all don't really get going until 10:00 am.
all the shops only open around 11:00 lasy wankers...)

"hay dude, is the fish market far from here?"
"????"
FISH MARKET?"
" ah! fish market close"
"yeah!! fish market, so where is it?"
"fish market close"
"yeah we got it, where is it?"
"close, not operating, not working, close"
"you mean... closed!?!?"
" hai, yes"

"but but ... why??.... it's not Sunday"
"today emperor birthday! national holiday! market close"
"ahh.. arigato"

so it's closed!!

because a few years ago the emperor's mother decided to squirt him out on the 20th om march we woke up at 05:00 for nothing!!!!!!

well.. we'll try again tomorrow...

Long live the emperor!

when we finally got there
